Dorian Le Bihan

Dorian Le Bihan was born in Ibiza, Spain and raised most of his childhood in the Seychelles near his French family. The past 12 years he has been living in the Canary Islands, a place that gave him the perfect environment to explore his passions. This is where Dorian became a surf photographer/videographer specialised in travel and surf culture.

His process highlights a range of mix media techniques: Standing out in high contrast, the photographs Dorian took in Costa Rica, Peru, and the Canary Islands join the collage as screen prints on canvas. He achieved the dynamic texture of the works with fiberglass, resin, canvas cloth, and varnish. The main brown colour scheme comes from Dorian’s experimentation with coffee stains. The written texts dancing on his creations were gathered throughout his travels. In his writing, Dorian delves into spiritual topics, philosophical questions and an exploration of his lived experiences.

I’ve always been driven by experimentation in my art, and collage was something that I grew up doing even before picking up a camera. I would just rip through old surf magazines. Now my artwork has matured in such a way that I only use resources that come from my creation. Photography, texts, etc.
